The passing of Ethel May Hamilton of Fredericton, NB wife of the late Morley Hamilton occurred on Saturday, December 1, 2018 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on April 6, 1924 in Saint John, NB, she was a daughter of the late Hanford and Ethel (Neill) Belmore.

Ethel was a life long member of Devon Park Baptist Church who often volunteered her time. She enjoyed gardening and was a babysitter to the families of Robert Grant (Peter and Brent) and the Holland Family, (Peter and Michael).

Ethel is survived by her son, Robert “Bob” (Maria) Matthews; grandchildren, Joel (Stephanie), Jeffrey (Terri), Christopher and Heather Matthews; great grandchildren, Liam, Ophelia, Hayden, Hudson, Kayleigh, Alyssa; daughter in law, Sandra Matthews; sister, Dorothy Belmore; several nieces, nephews and special friend, Eleanor Cusack.

Besides her parents, Ethel was predeceased by her first husband, Draper Matthews; sons, James “Jim” Matthews and Randall “Randy” Matthews; infant daughter, Gladys Matthews; siblings, Margaret, William, Russell, Chesley, Malcolm, Jean, Nellie and Helen.

Visitation will take place from York Funeral Home’s T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Thursday, December 6, 2018 from 11:30 to 1 pm; followed by a Memorial Service at 1 pm with Rev. Terry Woodcock officiating and Rev. Ross Hebb

assisting. Honorary pallbearers will be Ethel’s grandchildren. Interment will take place in Sunny Bank Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Devon Park Baptist Church or St. Peters Anglican Church. Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com
