Obituary for Ethel Peddle (Slade)
PEDDLE, Ethel Mae (nee Slade)- 83 yrs. young of Mt Pearl (formally Salmon Cove). Was promoted to the right hand of God on Thursday, Jan 4th after a lengthy battle with Dementia. She was predeceased by her parents: James & Maisie Slade; brothers: David Slade & George Slade and brothers in law: Thomas Milley, William Pretty, Gerald Peddle & Melvin Thorne. Left to morn but celebrate her life is her loving and devoted husband of 63 years Edward Peddle; daughters: Valeria (Calvin) Smith and Edwina (Jason) Howell; son Paul Peddle; grandchildren: Sara (Thomas) Hawkins, Christopher (Adrienne) Smith, Justin, Emily & Matthew Peddle, and their mother Kim Peddle and Nathan & Emma Howell; great granddaughters: Kristina & Kathryn Hawkins. Also leaving to remember the wonderful times are her sisters: Susie Milley, Cicley Pretty and Maisie (Simon) Ricks; brother: Jack (Vivian) Slade; sisters in law: Hilda Slade & Marina Peddle. Her devoted caretakers who we wish had known her before this dreaded disease Betty, Andrea, Irene & Damaris. Also a large circle of cousins, nieces & nephews and church family. Many thanks to Dr. Essaji for his constant care and home visits over the last few years. Resting at Barrett’s Funeral Home, 73 Commonwealth Ave., Mt. Pearl on Friday, January 5, 2108 from 2:00 -5:00 and 7:00 -9:00 p.m. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 6, 2108 at 10:30 a.m. from Solid Rock Wesleyan Church, Park Ave. Interment to follow at Riverside United Cemetery, Salmon Cove 2:30 p.m. Flowers gratefully accepted or donations may be made in Ethel’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Society of Newfoundland and Labrador.
