Obituary of Ernest Leier
LEIER, Ernest
Passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 13, 2018 at the Hamilton General Hospital, surrounded by family. Ernest was in his 94th year. He was born and raised in Neudorf, Saskatchewan. Upon settling in Hamilton, Ernest quickly found employment at Stelco Steel where he worked for 46 years. In World War II, Ernest served as a soldier in the Argyle and Sutherland division. Ernest was also an avid fisherman and enjoyed many summers at the cottage. Ernest was happiest spending time with his family. He leaves behind his beloved wife Vivien (nee Leslie) of 69 years. He was the loved father of Robert (Pauline), William (Edith), Carol (Bob), and Deborah (Mike). Grandfather to Gillian, Kelly, Jodi, Brian, Mark and Erica. Great-grandfather to Bobi, Ella and Benjamin. He will also be sadly missed by his extended family and many family friends. The family would like to thank the staff at the General Hospital for their care and support over the past couple of weeks. A private family service has already taken place at the Donald V. Brown Funeral Home in Stoney Creek, with interment at Mount Hamilton Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or Canadian Diabetes Association would be greatly appreciated by the family. Online condolences may be left at www.donaldvbrown.ca
