Obituary Overview
Ernest “Orrie” Chubak
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing our dear father, grandfather and beloved husband Orrie on May 12th, 2018 at the age of 83 years.
He was predeceased by his father, Michael; mother, Jessie; sister, Caroline; beloved grandparents and his faithful, furry companion Lady.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 37 years, Frances. He will also be sadly missed by his son, Darryl (Winnipeg); daughter, Sherryl (Burnaby, B.C.); his step-children: Ron (Peter) of Toronto and Debi (Peter) of Winnipeg as well as his grandchildren: Drayson & Dreanne (Winnipeg) and Kacey (Leduc, AB) and his extended family in Ontario, Halifax and Edmonton.
Orrie was born and lived his entire life in Winnipeg. He was proud of his Ukrainian heritage and his north end roots. He was a whiz with numbers and earned his accounting degree and went go to work in many financial positions before he retired from Manitoba Health.
Retirement allowed Fran and Orrie to realize their dream of living at the lake. Their cabin at Buffalo Point was the heart of many cherished family memories including his special mail runs with Buddy. When health issues arose they moved back to Winnipeg where they enjoyed their time together with their fur baby, Lady.
Orrie enjoyed travelling with his wife to many exciting locales in Canada, the U.S., Mexico, the Dominican Republic and numerous cruises. He loved golf, bridge, curling and watching sports. He was passionate about his teams and was known to voice his enthusiasm with some colourful language when the situation warranted it.
As per Orrie’s wishes a private family interment has taken place at All Saints where he has been laid to rest with his family. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to a charity of your choice.
May the wind of Heaven blow softly and whisper in your ear how much we love and miss you and wish that you were here.
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Ernest Orrie Chubak 2018.source
