Our Hearts Remember
Erika Hoffmann (nee Neumann) took the hand of God and left us on December 7, 2018 at the age of 91.
She is by predeceased by her husband, Friedrich (Fred) Hoffmann; and sister, Herta Beckmann.
Erika will be fondly remembered and lives on in the hearts of her 4 children and their families: Alfred (Jocelyn), Harold (Susanne), Angelika (Raymond) and Gordon (Donna); her 9 grandchildren, Alisha, Allison, Allayna, Kirsten, Kayley, Ben, Sarah, Josh and Keri; and 6 great grandchildren.
Her strength, sense of humour, Kuchen and “let’s get it done” attitude is cherished by her brother Reinhold (Herta), sister Olga (Rolf), her children, nieces and nephews.
Erika emigrated from Germany in 1955 and after working two summers in the sugar beet fields by Lethbridge, Edmonton quickly became her forever home. She forged many connections through the Ritchie community, St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and the Victoria Soccer Club. She moved with acceptance into each new phase of life that saw her leave her garden and move into a condo, then into GEF’s Ottewell Lodge where she was able to reconnect with old friends and her special friend, Else. Her final earthly home was at the Zetter Centre, where she was attended to by many caring staff members.
A Celebration of Life will be held for Erika at Glenwood Funeral Home (52356 Range Road 232, Sherwood Park AB.) Service with be at 2:00 PM on Saturday, December 22, 2018. Viewing will be available for an hour beforehand.
