Obituary of Elsie Gillespie
Gillespie, Elsie
Elsie was born in Kitley Township in Eastern Ontario and lived a long and healthy life. Elsie died peacefully Saturday, October 13, 2018 at Victoria Hospital in south London with her sons Ron and Roger by her side. She was 97 years, one month and nine days old. She was the last surviving family member of her generation. Beloved wife of the late Harold Gillespie (1987) whom she missed every day. She is fondly remembered by sons Ron (Deb), Roger and Rick (Diane). Daughter Ruth died of cancer in 2013. She will be missed by grandchildren: Shawna Lockie (Andrew), Krista Gillespie (Matt Gregory), Jennifer Gillespie (Jeff Buchanan), Anna Aldred (Luke), Nathan, Laura, Marcia and David Ball (Marianne) and great grandchildren Ben, Madeline, Sienna, Marlie, Alexander, Jonathan, Olivia and Cheyenne. Elsie loved her family including her cat Emma. She is predeceased by her parents Herb and Mary Bellamy, brother Edward and sister Doris.
Friends may visit at the McFarlane & Roberts Funeral Home, 2240 Wharncliffe Road, South, Lambeth 519-652-2020 on Wednesday, October 17, 2018 from 7-9 pm. Interment Brampton Memorial Gardens, 10061 Chinguacousy Rd, Brampton, ON L7A 0H6 on Thursday, October 18, 2018. Donations to London Regional Cancer Program, 800 Commissioners Rd., E., London, ON N6A 4W9 or The Heart & Stroke Foundation, 150-633 Colborne St., London, ON N6B 2V3 gratefully acknowledged. We wish to thank Doctor Duley and all the staff we met at the Victoria Health Science Centre for their care and compassion for our mother during her stay over the past two months.
