Eleanor “Shirley” Commanda (Cooco)
Began her journey to the spirit world with the love of family and friends all around her on Friday, July 13, 2018. She would have been 84 on July 19, 2018.
Shirley Commanda of the Algonquin’s of Pikwakanagan First Nation, dearly loved wife of August Commanda. Loving mother to Cheryl Jansen, Donna Meness (Jim), Dennis Sarazin (Gail), Connie Guatto (Mike), Dave Commanda (Colleen).
Cherished grandma to Kerry (Kevin), Cory (Melissa), Carter, Katie, Marcy, Sierra, Darren, Noah, Kenneth and Harold (whom she sadly never had the chance to meet).
Cherished great-grandma to Ireland, Emery, Keira, Kinsley and Austin (a great-grandson she sadly never got to meet)
Shirley was loved by so many nieces and nephews, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, cousins and countless friends. She shared an extra special bond through her lifetime with a childhood friend, Rita Cooke. They survived many years together at a residential school in Spanish, Ontario. They would then become sisters-in-law. Always together, never apart.
Professional arrangements entrusted to the care of Zohr Family Funeral Home, Eganville. Visitation will be held at the Makwa Centre on Tuesday, July 17, 2018 from 11am – 5pm and 6 – 9pm and on Wednesday morning from 9 – 10:30am. A funeral mass will be held at Nativity of our Lady at 11am interment to follow in Chebewkagim cemetery. Tributes and condolences can be made at www.zohrfuneralhome.com
