Obituary of Edward Westelaken
WESTELAKEN: Edward Frans ‘Ed’-
A resident of Blenheim, Edward Westelaken passed away peacefully with his family by his side at Strathmere Lodge, Strathroy on Tuesday, October 2, 2018 at the age of 86.
Born in Veldhoven, The Netherlands on September 9, 1932, Ed was the son of the late Christian and Lucy (VanGerwen) Westelaken.
Ed married Ann (nee Depondt / DeWitte) on November 9, 1957 and shared 41 years with her until her passing on January 19, 1999.
Loving father of Edward Westelaken (Ellen) of Rodney, David Westelaken (Joy) of Rodney, Carol Huston (Brian) of Strathroy, James Westelaken (Veronica) of London and Robert Westelaken (Jennifer) of Aurora. Predeceased by his infant son Mark.
Proud Opa of Daniel, Isaak, Christopher, Skyler; Matthew, Jason; Jessica, Lauren, Erin; Quintin and Andrew.
Dear brother to John Westelaken (late Jean) of St. Thomas and Herman Westelaken (late Emmie) of Uxbridge.
Predeceased by his siblings Annie Liebregts (late Joe), Lucy VanBoxmeer, Arnold Westelaken (late Frances), Paul Westelaken and Ben Westelaken.
Brother-in-law to Mary Westelaken, Louis VanBoxmeer, Betty Westelaken, Minnie Landschoot (late Albert), Jennie Korpan (late Nick), Margaret DeWitte (late Alphonse), Denise DeWitte (late Archie).
Predeceased by brothers and sisters-in-law Marie Mastronardi (late Marius), Rita Goldoni (late Frank) and Delores Hoy (late John).
Also missed by nieces, nephews, friends and extended family.
Ed was an active member of St. Mary’s Parish in Blenheim, St. Michael’s Parish in Ridgetown, St. Mary’s Choir and the Knights of Columbus. He retired from Kent County Fertilizer after 33 years of service.
Family will receive friends at the Funeral Home, 141 Park Street, Blenheim on Thursday from 3:00 – 5:00 pm and 7:00 – 9:00 pm. Vigil Prayers will be held Thursday at 8:00 pm, followed by Knights of Columbus prayers. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary’s Church, 95 Marlborough St. N., Blenheim at 11:00 am on Friday, October 5, 2018. Interment to follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Blenheim.
