It is with great sadness that the family of the late respected Mi’Kmaq Elder Edna May Benoit announce her passing at the Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital in Stephenville on August 14th 2018 at the age of 85 years. She will be sadly missed by her six sons George in DeGrau, Matthew in Mainland, Stephen in DeGrau, Jasen (Janice) in DeGrau, Colin (Agnes) in DeGrau, Bruce in Alberta, her four daughters Mary Phyllis Young in DeGrau, Myra Benoit in DeGrau, Barbra Benoit McAlinden in Cape St. George, Lory Benoit Jesso (Warren) in Kippens. Also leaving to mourn her five brothers Irving Benoit in Ontario, Donald Benoit in DeGrau, Jerome Benoit in Cape St. George, Godfrey Benoit in Red Brook, Zachary Benoit in Nova Scotia, one sister Barbara Jesso in DeGrau and a large number of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her husband Sylvester Benoit, her son Kalvin Benoit, her brothers Felix Benoit and Bert Benoit. There will be a small Chapel Service at Russell’s Funeral Home on Saturday August 18th at 2 P.M. Interment will take place at a later date. .
