Joseph “Joe” William Eckhardt, of Durham, passed away at Rockwood Terrace, Durham on Sunday, July 8th, 2018 in his 95th year. Beloved husband of the late Phyllis Eckhardt (nee Gilholm). Loving father of Ruth and her husband John Chapman of Hanover, Arthur Eckhardt and his wife Lorna, Philip Eckhardt and his wife Colleen, Jonathan Eckhardt and his wife Margaret, David Eckhardt and his wife Darlene all of Durham, Phyllis Ann and her husband Michael Freishleben of Harriston, Edwin Eckhardt and his wife Donna of Port Perry, and Laurie Eckhardt and his wife Karren of Lefroy. Fondly remembered by his 20 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. Dear brother of Mary Rogers. Predeceased by his grandsons Christopher Eckhardt and Rob Moore and his siblings; Martha Dingwall, Allie Randall, Edna Bowman, Andress Eckhardt, Sadie Morrison and Ada Wells.

Friends may call at the McCulloch-Watson Funeral Home, Durham on Tuesday, July 10th from 2 – 4 and 7 – 9 p.m.
Celebration of Life::
A funeral service celebrating Joe’s life will be held at the Durham Legion on Wednesday morning at 11 a.m. Interment at Durham Cemetery.
