Dr Mathias Gysler 2018

Obituary Overview
Please take a moment to sign the guestbook.
Dr. Mathias “Matt” Gysler passed peacefully away on January 25, 2018 at home with his family in Oakville, Ontario at the age of 69. He was surrounded by his loving wife Sherry, of 33 years, his son Stefan and his wife Valerie Luks, his daughter Daniela and her husband Brooks Wood and, of course, the family dogs.
Matt was a man of many trades. He raced cars, flew planes, and sailed boats. He studied, he
taught, he practiced and most certainly, he inspired. He was a leader and a role model. He
believed in people’s dreams, and in helping them become realized.
He was a generous and loving husband, father, brother, friend, and physician. He will be
remembered for his sharp mind and his calm, nonjudgmental demeanor and for his dedication to
the health of women, children and families.
His family will miss him enormously and he will be forever in their hearts. He has left them with
a lifetime of memories and life lessons. He worked as a physician in Ontario for 44 years
specializing in gynecology, obstetrics and fertility. He was passionate and dedicated to his
practice and will be deeply missed by his colleagues and patients.
Per his wishes, there will not be a funeral or visitation. The family asks that in lieu of flowers,
donations can be made to the Dr. Mathias Gysler Research Chair in Patient and Family Centred
Care under the Trillium Health Care Partners Foundation: supporting.trilliumgiving.ca/gysler
