OBITUARY
Douglas Stuart Cleveland
January 6, 1959 – July 8, 2018
Douglas “Doug” Stuart Cleveland, age 59, died Sun. July 8 at Nanaimo Regional Hospital British Columbia after a short battle with cancer.
Doug is survived by his beloved sons Riley D. Cleveland and Lucas C. Cleveland, and granddaughter Isla. His father, Willis Fredrick Cleveland recently passed. He leaves behind his loving mother Margret J. Cleveland, and sister Patricia Cleveland. Uncle to Christine and Scott Connelly.
Doug was born in Peterborough, Ontario. He attended Trinity College TCS and graduated in agricultural engineering from Kempville College. He lived in Penticton and Nanaimo, BC where he enjoyed helping people as a financial consultant.
Douglas skied with the Whistler Ski Patrol. He was a competitive local sailor, which lead to crewing in the Rolex Cup. He was the past commodore of the Penticton Yacht Club. In Nanaimo, he sailed the coast with friends. Singing in Barbershop quartets brought joy to his life. Mountain biking was his favorite way to spend time with his sons.
With the sudden discovery of his illness, he was forced to resign his position as Chairman of the Nanaimo Boys and Girls Club. He was very committed to helping his community.
A private family service will be conducted in Penticton, BC.
