Obituary Overview
Dorothy Anne Pontifex (nee Smith)
Peacefully on December 7th, 2018 our loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away at Brightwater Senior Living.
Mom was born on January 10th, 1926 in Oaklake, MB. She met Dad at a Westminster Church dance and they were happily married for 66 years. Mom and Dad made their home in Crescentwood where they raised their family. Mom was a stay at home Mom and volunteered many hours at Harrow United Church. She led Sunday School, the Boy Cubs, and sang in the Church choir for many years. Mom was very generous, helpful and had a wonderful smile. She was talented, creative and enjoyed camping with family, oil painting and sewing. Mom made everything from her daughter’s baby clothes to wedding dresses. She also enjoyed playing card games and traveled to more than 15 countries with Carl. She was a great cook and baker.
Mom was predeceased by her husband Carl, her loving daughter Sandra Dale Tacchi, her brother Douglas and her sister Bessie.
She is survived by one brother Maurice (Barbara) Smith and sister-in-law Shirley Smith.
Mom will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her three children, Joy (Tom) Wilton, Heather Pontifex (Bob Bilewitch), and Donald (Marlene) Pontifex, grandchildren Amy and Graham as well as great-grandchildren Jada, Ty and Desiree.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Deer Lodge Foundation or Harrow United Church.
The family will be having a small private gathering of remembrance at a later date.
