It is with sadness that we announce the passing of our father and pépère at the age of 93 on Dec.02,2018. Loving husband of the late Noella for 67 years. Adored father of Suzanne (George), Daniel (Josie) and Claude (Hilda). Cherished Pépère to Christopher (Allison), Nicole (Dave), Monique (Marcel), Michelle(Dave), Justin(Lindsey), Christian(Krista) and Geneviève. Great grandfather to Eloise, Anna, Paisley, Shae and Macie. The depth and scope of his legacy is profound and consequential. Pionnier et membre fondateur du comité de la paroisse Notre-Dame du Perpétuel Secours et de son école. Don spent 50 years serving the francophone community. Beginning in 1941, his leadership guided a small committee who worked tirelessly towards the creation of the first French language school of Ecole des St.- Anges and in 1951 the Paroisse Saint Charles Garnier. In 1963, l`école Notre –Dame was built and in 1974, l’Ecole Secondaire Georges P.Vanier. His dream was realized but yet his work was not done. He was director of the Centre-Français in 1991 and has been a member of L’âge d’or. He has received many awards for his service including: Distinctions Bénévoles par le Ministère de la Culture. From the 1950 s onward, he was a fixture in the Hamilton Music scene and with guitar in hand and his gift of song he could keep “a family party going all night”. He has been an inspiration and influence in his children’s passion for music. We will fondly cherish his respect for diversity and his fight for moral integrity. We were blessed with his tenderness, his kindness and great love for his family which he dearly expressed with a song in his heart. Merci cher Papa pour votre cadeau de “joie de vivre”. A heartfelt thanks to the staff at The Meadows for your care and compassion and to Dr. Boutin for her continued support and compassion throughout. Visitation at Bay Gardens Funeral Home – “William J. Markey Chapel”, 947 Rymal Road East, HAMILTON (905.574.0405) on Friday from 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm and from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm. Funeral Mass will be held at Notre –Dame de Perpetuel Secours, 243 Cumberland on Dec. 8 at 11 am. cremation to follow.
