1939-2018
MacGILLVARY, Donald Hugh
– Age 78, Glendale, Inverness Co., passed away on Sunday,
November 18, 2018, in the Strait Richmond Hospital, Evanston. Born in
Glace Bay, he was a son of the late Angus and Christina (MacEachern)
MacGillivray. Donald worked in forestry for many years as a porter
operator. He was a member of St. Mary of the Angels Parish,
Glendale.
Surviving are his daughters, Janet (David) Degano, Bradford,
Ont; Margaret Ann (John) MacRae, Lantz; sons, Angus A. (Annette),
Dundee; Brennan (Lucy) and Sheldon, both of Antigonish; siblings, John
Alex (Cathy), Lively, Ont; Rose Mary (Dave) Doucet, Sydney; D.J.
(Catherine), Mull River; Francis, Glendale; Evelyn (David) Burns,
Troy; sisters-in-law, Rachel MacGillivray, Glendale; Betty
MacGillivray, Calgary; brother-in-law, Alfred LeBlanc, Glendale;
grandchildren, Jake, Alley, Ethan, Eric, Cameron, Logan, Breagh,
Ceilidh, Shalena, Gabrielle. He was predeceased by his wife, Mary
(O’Brien); infant brother, Lawrence Alexander, Sam,
Lawrence, Leonard and Ron; sister, Catherine Anne LeBlanc;
sisters-in-law, Mabel MacGillivray and Barbara
MacGillivray.
Visitation will be from 2-9 p.m. on Thursday in Dennis
Haverstock Funeral Home, Port Hawkesbury. Funeral mass will be 11 a.m.
Friday from St. Mary of the Angels Roman Catholic Church, Glendale
with Father Conrad Edwards officiating. Burial will follow in the
parish cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to St.
Mary’s Cemetery Fund or to the Canadian Cancer Society.
