Diane-Ellen Marie Blanchette
Feb. 12, 1974 – July 2, 2018
Diane was a beautiful baby born on Feb. 12, 1974. Although life was not always easy, Diane lived a very full life; full of family, friends and activity.
She wanted to be a part of everything and you always knew when Diane was in a room by her big, boisterous (often inappropriate) laughter. She was involved in so many sports and activities over the years: Little Bits Riding Club, soccer, ringette, taekwondo, discus, javelin, bowling, swimming, CP Sports, Brownies and rhythm gymnastics, just to name a few. Diane was able to travel with various clubs and one highlight was representing Canada in 1991 in 10-pin bowling for Special Olympics.
Diane was very artistic and loved to make crafts at home as well as with the Networks program. Diane gifted many friends and family with her artwork. At home Diane watched a lot of movies and loved to watch wrestling programs and get very excited, sometimes using some pretty colourful language. She also like to play a game with Madeleine where she would hum songs and make her mom guess the song. Many of the songs were memories from before her surgeries.
Diane enjoyed being with people and interacted with everyone she met. She was loved by her extended family and will be lovingly remembered by her mother (Madeleine), her memere (RoseAnna), her many aunts, uncles cousins and extended family.
To celebrate Diane’s life, the family would like to invite all who knew and loved Diane to a Catholic mass, on Wednesday, July 18, 2018 at 11 a.m. at the Good Shepherd Catholic Parish, 18407 60 Avenue NW Edmonton, Alberta. In lieu of gifts, please consider a donation to Networks Activity Centre nacentre.ca/ . Networks provided Diane with a safe and loving environment in which to express her creativity, meet with friends and just be her best self.
