Dermott’s Obituary
It’s with much disbelief and great sorrow that we announce the passing of a great husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, who was loved so deeply. Dermott Hodder peacefully and quietly joined the Lord on July 20, 2018 at the age of 64.
He leaves to mourn; his loving wife, Vaneta; sons, Dwayne (Angela) and Darren (Lindsay); the grandchildren he absolutely adored, Shelby, Corwin, Brennan, Gavin, Gwyneth and Seren; sisters Mary, Sheila (Bob), Wanda; brothers Clarence (Glenda), Harry (Medy), Jeff (Teresa), Rodney (Lyn), David; sisters-in-law Louise (Brendon), Sally, and Karen (Leif); many loving nephews and nieces, cousins, and a very large circle of friends.
He was predeceased by parents Clarence and Edith Hodder, and brothers-in-law Jim Stone and Kevin Kelly.
We will be celebrating his life on Saturday, August 4, 2018, at Chapel Ridge Free Methodist Church in Stittsville, Ontario (5660 Flewellyn Road) at 11:00 AM.
We would personally like to thank all the kind and caring doctors and nurses at the Ottawa General, whose quality and depth of care made the world of difference to Dermott, and who all noted his loving and funny personality even in difficult times. As we will not have facilities for gracious gifts of flowers, in Dermott’s memory, donations can be made to the Blood and Marrow Transplant team of the Ottawa Hospital through Barker Funeral Home.
