Derek Pite
Peacefully surrounded by his loving family at the Brantford General Hospital on Friday October 12, 2018. Derek Pite, of Brantford, in his 98th year. Beloved Husband of Verna (nee Kendry) for 76 years. Loving Dad of Marilyn Hutchison, Ken, David (Deb), Joanne (Les) Mannen, Gord (MaryJane), Norm (Pam). Cherished Grandpa of 13 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Predeceased by his daughter Barbara Shorey, and brothers Stan and Ed. Derek will be sadly missed by his many family & friends
Derek was a veteran of WWII and a proud avid supporter of military heritage. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Scotland Masonic Lodge No. 193, a co-founder and director of the Canadian Military Heritage Museum, and director of the Brant County Memorial Committee.
Friends will be received at the Keith Ovington Funeral Home, 134 King Street, Burford on Wednesday from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. A Legion Service will be held on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. followed by Masonic Service under the auspices of Scotland Masonic Lodge No. 193 at 6:45 p.m. Funeral Service will be held in the chapel on Thursday October 18, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. Interment Holy Trinity Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, donations in Derek’s memory may be made to the Canadian Military Heritage Museum or the Brant Community Healthcare System Foundation. www.keithovington.ca 519-449-1112.
