Obituary of Della Powell
Della Cora Powell born Aug 26,1929 to Frank and Lena Luker, passed away Sept 5, 2018 at the Grande Prairie Care Center. Della married Allan Powell on Oct 9, 1948 and they farmed together at Caron, until 1979 when they moved to Moose Jaw. It is at this time that she started working at Sears. In 2012 she moved to the Grande Prairie area. Della enjoyed gardening and always had a beautiful flower garden. She also spent many hours knitting baby hats for the newborns at the hospital. Della will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Janet (Serle) Hanson; her daughter-in-law, Patti Powell; her grandchildren, Garth (Lin)Hanson, Troy Hanson, Leanne (Chris) Mercredi, Allan (Teneille) Powell and Kevin (Nicole) Powell; her 9 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law Dorothy Roberts and Betty Johnstone; as well as many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by parents, Frank and Lena Luker; in-laws, Harry and Lida Powell; her husband, Allan Powell; her son, Ken Powell; her brother, Earl Luker, brothers-in-law, Ernie Johnstone, Lorne Powell, and Charlie Roberts; sisters-in-law, Marj Powell, and Mabel Luker. A Celebration of Della’s Life will be held on Friday, Sept 14, 2018 at 10:30 am at Parkview Funeral Chapel (474 Hochelaga St. W). Della Ferguson will officiate. Interment will follow at Sunset Cemetery. In living memory of Della a memorial tree planting will be made by JONES Funeral Home.
