David Tataryn 2018

David Tataryn
January 20, 1924 – March 12, 2018

David Tataryn, beloved husband of the late Helen Tataryn, passed away at the Preeceville Care Home on March 12, 2018, at the age of 94 years.
David was born January 20, 1924, in Endeavour, SK, to Mike and Sadie (Leson) Tataryn. He grew up on the family homestead near Endeavour and attended Chermos School. As a young man, he worked on the family farm as well as in the logging industry.
On February 14, 1950, David was united in marriage to Helen Shalanski. Together, they were blessed with three children: Hazel, Reno and Davy. David and Helen started their family while living in Endeavor. In 1954, they relocated to Tadmore, where they purchased land and continued to farm for 45 years. They retired from farming in 1995 and moved into Canora in 1999. David willingly contributed to his community. In the 1960’s, he dedicated his time and efforts and represented Tadmore School as a Board Member. He also served as a councillor for the RM of Buchanan. From 1986-1995, David graciously helped his son, Reno, with his growing business, contributing to its success.
David was known for his work ethic, but he also knew the value and importance of taking time for family and friends. He was always readily available to lend a helping hand and was often found enjoying the company of others at Wong’s Cafe or Dennis Foods. From the time he could carry a gun, David enjoyed hunting and became an avid moose hunter. He continued to enjoy hunting throughout his life, until his legs could no longer hold out.
In 2007, David lost his wife, Helen, to cancer. He continued to live independently in his home until 2015, when he became a resident of the Preeceville Personal Care Home, where he resided until his passing. He will be remembered for his wonderful sense of humour and will be missed by all who knew and loved him. David was predeceased by his parents, Mike and Sadie; wife, Helen; brother, John, and his sisters, Annie and Emily. He is survived by his daughter, Hazel (Bob) Klyne; sons, Reno (Lorna) and Dave (Lise); grandchildren: Chad, Clayton, Jamie, Karen and Michelle; great-grandchildren, Alyssa and Kelsey; and sisters, Victoria (Mike) Rusnak and Albina Wilson; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 17, 2018, from the Chapel of Leson’s Funeral Home. Interment will follow at the Canora Cemetery. Those wishing to make expressions of sympathy may make donations to the Preeceville Personal Care Home, as tokens of remembrance, in memory of David Tataryn.
