David Robert Carter
March 18, 1941 – December 26, 2018
It is with deep sadness and broken hearts that we announce the sudden passing of David Robert Carter, age 77, of Halifax, on December 26, 2018. Born in Halifax on March 18, 1941, he was the son of the late Borden and Ena (Sharp) Carter.
At an early age, David joined the Canadian Army. After leaving the Army, he became a member of the RCMP, where he spent the next 28 years. After retiring from the RCMP, he became employed by the Province of Nova Scotia.
He was an active member of the RCMP Veteran’s Association and a 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus. For 19 years he was a volunteer at the Canadian Museum of Immigration at Pier 21.
David is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Jean (O’Leary), daughter Colleen (Glen) Scheuer, and beloved granddaughter Emma, who gave him so much joy. Also surviving are brother Ronald (Cheryl), Dartmouth, sister Elizabeth (Wayne) Fraser, Halifax, and several nieces and nephews.
A celebration of David’s life will take place at 10 o’clock a.m. on Monday, December 31, 2018 at St. Agnes Church, Mumford Road, Halifax.
Heartfelt thanks to Dr. Robert Brown, Dr. Laura Reardon, Dr. Joseph Lawen, Dr. Daniel French, and Dr. Stephanie Snow for the excellent care given to David.
