David Malcolm Lewis Malcolm Williams 1932 2018

WILLIAMS, Dr. Malcolm
It is with deepest sadness that we announce the death of our father, David Malcolm Lewis Williams. Malcolm died suddenly and unexpectedly at home on 23 April 2018. Born in Grovesend, South Wales, on 9 June 1932, he lived an incredible and full life. He was truly a renaissance man in every sense; a husband, father, grandfather, doctor, professor, surgeon, musician, storyteller, orator, artist, silversmith, photographer, golfer, carpenter, builder, writer, native Welsh speaker, and so much more. While he was one of this country’s top ear surgeons, his first love (apart from Denny, his wife) was always music. It was this passion for music that he shared with Denny for almost 70 years, since their first meeting in the National Youth Orchestra of Wales. They played music together throughout that time and later with the Kingston Symphony Orchestra where they were key members for over 30 years. Malcolm continued to play his double bass in smaller ensembles until his death. Malcolm and Denny would have been married 60 years this coming August. He was loved by all who knew him whether as a patient, colleague, musician or friend. For his wife, Denny, children Paul (Maureen), Sîan (Gisella) and Clare (Dave), and his grandchildren Megan, Jonathan, Laura, Bryn, Emma and Ieuan (for whom he was Dadcu), he was always there whenever needed. He shared his wisdom, his caring, his passion for life, his charm and his humour with all. He will be sorely missed by all of us. If any of us could be half the person he was, we will have lived a good life. In accordance with Malcolm’s wishes, cremation is in the care of James Reid Crematorium. A memorial service will be held at THE CATHEDRAL CHURCH OF ST. GEORGE (corner of Johnson and King Streets), on 27 April 2018 at 11:00 am. The family will receive friends at the church prior to the service from 10:00am until 10:50 am and during a reception following the service. As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to Kingston Symphony Association or Heart and Stroke Foundation. “Nos da Dadcu, you will be forever loved in our hearts and in our memories.”
