Dallas Johnson April 15th 1935 July 17th 2018

On Tuesday, July 17, 2018, the family of Dallas Johnson reluctantly and lovingly said goodbye for the last time and, happy that his pain and suffering were over, released him into the loving arms of Jesus, his Saviour and Lord of his life.
Dallas leaves behind his wife of 52 years, Gwyneth; children Sheila (Jason) Rogerson, Dan Rogers, Pamela Rogers and Michael (Mary) Rogers; grandchildren Sean (Allison) Rogers, Bryan (Katye) Rogers, Trevor Rogers, Allison Rogers, Sian (TJ) Olver, Alec Rogerson and Isabella DelaPena; and great grandchild Dean Olver. Dallas was predeceased by his parents Rex and Arvilla Johnson, his daughter-in-law Cheryl Rogers, and his brother-in-law Bob (Edie) Jones. Dallas leaves behind his cherished siblings, brothers Ebb (Betty) Johnson and Willard (Loretta) Johnson, and sisters Betty-Jo (Louis) Ward, Shirley (Richard) Wilkie and Janet McCreary, special cousin Charlene Kellett and several nieces, nephews and cousins from Missouri, Oklahoma and Washington. Special friends Bobby and Sandy Janks (missionaries to Venezuela), Donna and Rob, and Nancy.
Dallas, being part of the Family of God, was a member of Huron Baptist Church, pastored by Dave Benn and served by many faithful followers.
Dallas was born in Blue Eye, Missouri on April 15, 1935, graduated from the School of the Ozarks in Branson, Missouri, moved to Oklahoma and was then called into service in the U.S. Army for two years, stationed for some time in Germany. He returned to the U.S. to work for a company that serviced and repaired industrial valves in Oklahoma and Texas, and was eventually sent to Sarnia to manage a valve shop here. He bought the Sarnia operation and operated it as Professional Valve Service Inc. until his early retirement in 1990.
Dallas and Gwyn enjoyed the next 28 years travelling with their RV, going twice a year to Branson, Missouri to visit family, and once a year while Gwyn’s brother Bob was alive, to enjoy salmon fishing and spending time with him and his family. Dallas and Gwyn’s travels took them to Australia, New Zealand, Hawaii, Mexico, the United Kingdom, Africa, Europe, Israel and South America. When Dallas wasn’t travelling, he set aside time in the fall to go to Northern Ontario to hunt moose with friends Leo Bradshaw and Norm Withers.
Dallas had a wonderful life and now enjoys the greatest life of all in Heaven.
Visitation will be held at Smith Funeral Home on Friday, July 20 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 21 at 11:00 a.m. followed by interment at Lakeview Cemetery. Lunch to follow at Smith Family Centre, 1576 London Line, Sarnia.
In lieu of flowers, donations are encouraged for St. Joseph’s Hospice, Inn of the Good Shepherd, or Ethnos Canada to support the missionary work of Bobby and Sandy Janks (cheques only at the funeral home please).
