Kathleen Vera (Murphy) Craig
1935-2018
Kathleen passed away peacefully in her sleep the morning July 18, 2018 at Kootenay Lake Hospital.
Kathleen was born in Nelson, BC in 1935. She was raised in Kaslo, BC by her Father (Mack Murphy, 1908-1977), Mother (Vera Murphy, 1910-1992), and her five siblings. She attended school in Kaslo through to Grade 11. She then moved to Mill Valley, California in 1953 to complete her Grade 12 at Tamalpais High School. Afterwards she moved back to Kaslo where she met and married George Royal Craig (1933-1995) on August 8, 1959. She was an LPN Nurse and Mt. St. Francis until 1985.
Kathleen is survived by her two children Kevin (Carmela) and Leanne (Bob Marsh), her two sisters Karen and Carmel, her four grandchildren Patrisha (Corby), Rebecca, Coleman, and Courtney, her two great grandchildren Max and Miss Tillie, as well as two step grand children Jamie and Cole.
Kathleen had a love for history and reading. She enjoyed cooking (everyone has had her home-made buns) and painting in her spare time. Many of her friends and family have her painted glassware to remember her by.
She was known as ‘Nana’ by all her grandchildren and friends.
Everyone who met her will remember her for being strong, independent, and feisty. She would do anything for anyone who needed help. She was a tough but loving soul. She was a great friend to many and the best mother and Nana anyone could have asked for.
We love you so much and will see you again one day!
There will be no funeral by request; the family will have a private gathering at a later date.
