Obituary Overview
Colin Lewis
COLIN LEWIS
April 1, 1925 – May 23, 2018
It is with great
sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our father, grandfather and
brother-in-law, Colin Lewis, on May 23, 2018 at Vista Park Lodge at the age of
93.
Colin is lovingly
remembered by his daughter Marcia Blyth (Mitch), son Brian (Audrae),
grandchildren Faye Mason (Brian), Christian Lewis (Kristin) and Darrell Lewis
and brother-in-law Barry Gray. He was
predeceased by his wife Joan in 2014, his sister-in-law Linda Gray and his
parents Francis and Dorothy Lewis.
Dad was born in
Elkhorn, MB and raised in Alexander. He
worked a variety of jobs before starting a long career with the MB Dept. of
Energy & Mines as a mine recording officer until his retirement in 1986.
Dad and Mom were
casually acquainted in Brandon in the early 1950’s and a chance meeting in
Clear Lake in the summer of 1956 rekindled the friendship, the rest is
history. They were married in Brandon in
1957 and lived in Lynn Lake until their move to Winnipeg in 1960 where they
raised their children. Dad was quite the
bowler and curler in his younger years.
He and Mom loved to dance and were involved in square and round dancing
for over 40 years, travelling coast to coast in both Canada and the United
States. They also loved to camp and golf
and travelled the province with their trailer, one of their favorite spots
being Clear Lake where their story began.
The family would like
to thank the nurses and staff at Vista Park Lodge for the exceptional care and
compassion given to Dad.
In keeping with Dad’s
wishes cremation has taken place. A
private family internment will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers,
donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba or the Winnipeg
Humane Society.
