Claude Edwin Litt
Surrounded by his loving family and the comforts of his home in Chatham on Friday July 20, 2018. Claude was born in Hanover, Ontario on Remembrance Day 1929. He was the youngest of seven children – Everald, Marjorie, Marguerite, Howard, Max, born to Norman and Dora Litt. He is survived by his sister Helen Brown of Leamington. As a teenaged adventurer, Claude wore many hats – a stetson while a cowboy in Alberta – the red beret as a proud paratrooper in the Canadian army – a green and yellow John Deere cap when he became “the best John Deere Partsman in Canada” and a partner of McGrail Farm Equipment until his retirement. It was in 1947 when he became a carpenter at his Dad’s lumber mill in Drayton where he met and watched “his Betty” go to and from high school. It was a love forever and a blessed marriage of almost 69 years. Claude is the loving and proud father of Lynda and Paul Oliver, Tucson, AZ, Scott and Cheryl Litt, Bayfield, Tammy Patterson and Dave Robinson, St. Mary’s (late Lonnie Dionne 2008), Claudia and Chris Galli, Windsor. Grandpa will be so well remembered by his grandchildren: Nicole, (late Nathan 2011), Jennifer (Vic), Joelle (Don), Jessica (Stefan), Kelly (Jim), Danielle, Nancy (Steve), Garrett, Lacey. Also, his 9 great grandchildren, Olivia, Macayle, Gracie, Gwen, Desmond, Gavin, Carter, Makenzie, (late Max 2008) and Milo. You will always be remembered and forever in our hearts with much love. Now you will be placed in God’s hands. Family and friends are invited to the Alexander & Houle Funeral Home, 245 Wellington West, Chatham, 519-352-2710 on Saturday July 28th with visiting from 12 noon to 2 pm.
