Clarence Power
1938-2018
Clarence Malcolm “Bud” Power
– 79, of South Berwick passed away on Wednesday, May 16,
2018 at home. Born in Murphy’s Cove, he was a son
of the late Raymond and Leona (Murphy) Power. He will be
missed by his loving wife Lillian; daughters, Darlene Allen (Danny)
and Sherry Power; step-son, Robert Neron (Cindy); grandchildren,
Vanessa, Jacob, Colby, Zachary and Madison; step-grandchildren,
Robert, Annastascia and Brittany; step great grandchildren Colby and
Geneva, his little buddy. “Bud”, fondly called Papa
by many, brought smiles to all that knew him, always having a story or
joke to share and just a friendly face that said hello to everyone.
Papa was a hard worker and his wife and daughters never needed or
wanted for anything and when the grandchildren came along, it was the
same for them. He retired in the Annapolis Valley, but his heart was
always in Murphy’s Cove. He loved going to visit and always
considered it home. After retirement, you could
always find him tinkering with something out in his garage that he
built, with the help of his grandchildren who were quite little at the
time. As he aged, you could always find him sitting out on the deck
watching the birds, he especially loved the humming birds when they
visited. We, the family, would like to give special thanks
to everyone who touched his life, but especially to Dr. Puetz, a kind
and compassionate person and doctor who gave Papa the best
care; VON nursing and home support, who he loved to tease,
who showed him much respect in their care for him; Katrina from the
palliative care team, who helped both Papa and us in his last week, is
an extraordinary person; the nurses who drew his blood every week that
treated him extra special; Laura and Joann, the staff at
Larry’s Pharmacy; the nurses and doctors at Valley Regional
Hospital in Kentville; the EHS paramedics that brought him home to us
to live out his final days. He was so happy to be home.
Thanks to his best friend David who, in Papa’s last moments
of life, led us in song that comforted him and took him home where his
brothers Lloyd and Herb and his sister Vera were waiting with open
arms to welcome him. Cremation has taken place and there will be no
visitation by request. The funeral service, followed by a reception
will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 26, 2018 in Christ Anglican
Church, Berwick. Burial will take place at a later date.
Donations in memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation,
the Canadian Cancer Society or the Valley Regional Hospital
– Carey Me Program (in support of palliative care in the
home). Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to White Family
Funeral Home and Cremation Services Kentville.
