Clarence Klaas Vander Heide 19462018

Clarence (Klaas) Vander Heide
1946-2018
Clarence (Klaas) Vander Heide – 72, of Coldbrook,
Kings County, passed away suddenly, while surrounded by his family and
went home to be with his Lord on Friday, December 21, 2018 in the
Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Emmen, Drenthe, The
Netherlands, he was a son of the late Jan and Lammie (VanEngen) Vander
Heide. Clarence came to Canada from The Netherlands with his family in
1958 when he was twelve (The Tenyenhuis family, including Sieta,
happened to be on the same boat – the Waterman). The Vander Heide
family started farming in the Kentville/Coldbrook area in 1961, and he
married Sieta Tenyenhuis in 1968. Clarence and his wife, Sieta raised
their four children on their farm in North Alton, where Clarence
farmed for over forty years. Clarence had an unfailing work ethic, and
demonstrated this in his dedication to his family, farm, church, and
community; he derived great joy from helping others. Church services
and groups and committees were a fundamental part of
Clarence’s life, and he was a committed member and active
volunteer in the church and wider community until his final day.
Clarence loved spending time with his family. He and Sieta made their
home a hub for family get-togethers, and he continued to make these
events a priority after she died. Clarence was a man of devout faith,
a careful listener, and a peacemaker. He sincerely sought to build
community and to deepen the relationships to which he committed
himself. He will be fondly remembered and profoundly missed by those
who mourn his passing. He is survived by two daughters, Lisa (James)
Sitser, Alton; Rosella (Paul) Hutten, Kentville; two sons, Eric
(Carolyn), Kentville; Leon (Vanessa), Cambridge Station; nine
grandchildren, Emily (Cody) and Thomas Sitser, Rebekah (Brydone),
Alanna, Elliot and Miriam Hutten, Landyn, Kelland and Alyssa Vander
Heide; a sister, Cathy Vander Heide, Ontario; two brothers, Brent
(Erna) and John (Jenny), both of Kentville; many in-laws, nieces,
nephews and extended family members. He was predeceased by his wife,
Sieta. A public visitation will be held from 6-9 p.m. Friday, December
28, 2018 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville. A public
interment service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, December 29,
2018 in the Elm Grove Cemetery, Steam Mill, Kings County, followed at
2:00 p.m. with a public memorial service to be held in the Kings
Presbyterian Church, 5563 Prospect Road, New Minas, Pastor John
Tenyenhuis, brother-in-law, officiating. Family flowers only, by
request. Donations in memory may be made to Open Arms. Funeral
arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and
Cremation Services, Kentville.
Psalm 27:4
“One thing I ask from the Lord, this only do I seek: that I
may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my
life”
