Obituary of Clara Rector
It is with very heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved Clara Ann ‘Chookie’ Rector (Knowles). Chookie passed away in hospital, in Halifax on Tuesday evening. Anyone who was loved by Chookie, knew it, because she loved hard and unconditionally. Chookie had an amazing sense of humour, and you could always count on her for a laugh, a story, and a good cup of tea. She was a fiercely protective mama bear to her sons, Earl (Sarah) and Bobby Joe; and treated her daughter-in-law, Candace, like her own. Her grandsons were the absolute apple of her eye. Nanny will be dearly missed by Earl, Wyatt, Finn, Gabe, and baby River. She had many great friends who would drop in for a cup, chat and a little of her magic and wisdom over the years. Her regular girls made her day, and she spoke fondly of them all, loving them like family. She counted Mary Anne and Susan as her dearest of friends, and loved them as such, always grateful for their kindness and the way they cared about her like family. She was the baby sister of Sylvia (Hughie), Zelma, and Milton (Rosie); and a loving and proud aunt of many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her partner, Bobby Ferguson; her parents, Earl and Clara Knowles; and also by her sister, Catherine. Visitation for Chookie will be held at McLaren Funeral Home in Pictou, Monday, November 12th from 6-8pm. Donations in Chookie’s memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society. www.mclarenfuneral .ca
