Obituary of Charles Rockthunder
Rockthunder, Charles Alvin
“Pa pa ma Stem o Piyesiw”
(Soaring Thunderbird Flying in the Wind)
July 6, 1938 – December 14, 2018
It is with great sadness to announce the passing of Charles (Chas). Charles fought a courageous battle of liver cancer. He was surrounded by his loving family and left quietly in his sleep. He is survived by his Brothers, John (Modesta) Rockthunder, Roger (Sylvia) Rockthunder; sisters Grace Okemaw, Margaret Rockthunder, Barbara (Allan) Borkowski, Marie (Bruce) Smith and Lucy Francis; wife Ann Rockthunder (nee Fox); children, Clarence (Janice) Benjoe, Rodney, Pam, Lorne (Wanda), Ken, Colina (Bill), and his extended family. Also the many, many grandchildren and great grandchildren he had raised and he cared for many foster children with special mention to Faus and others too numerous to mention throughout his life. Special mention to long time friend, Roland Crowe. Charles has touched so many lives in many different ways. He will be remembered for all the greatness, generosity, the music and the love that he brought to those around him. He left a mark that will never be forgotten, his laughter, his smile and his joking and teasing. His enormous heart for those who needed help. He loved to play his fiddle and make the grandchildren dance. Charles had so many friends who took joy and comfort in his humorous but kind ways. The Wake will be held at Piapot First Nation Band Hall at 4:00 pm on Tuesday, December 18, 2018 with the Funeral at 11:00 am on Wednesday, December 19, 2018 at the same location with Piapot Elders officiating. Interment in Rockthunder cemetery. We ask that no children be in attendance.
