HOEKSTRA, Cecil – Peacefully, surrounded by his family, at the age of 82, at the Niagara Health St. Catharines Site on Sunday, January 14, 2018. Beloved and loving husband to Rosemary (née Ricci) and the late Cecilia (née Rountree). Dear father to Pat (Judy) and Paul (Cari) and predeceased by infant son John. Adored Papa to Kathleen (Stephen), Kelly (Shannon), Beverley (Matthew), Marie, Adam and Jakob. “Papa Cecil” to great grandchildren Thomas and Cecil. Brother to Norman (Joan) and Billy. He is predeceased by his parents Adrian and Marie, and siblings Tommy, Eddie and Jo-Anne Myers. Cecil will be missed by his buddy Kiki and all who loved him. Cecil played his junior hockey in St. Catharines with the Teepee’s and went on to a 16-year professional career. Following that he was the golf course superintendent at Cherry Hill Club for 31 years. Friends will be received at BOCCHINFUSO FUNERAL HOME on Wednesday, January 17, 2018 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. Vigil prayers will be celebrated at 3 PM. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Julia’s Church on Thursday at 11 am. An interment of cremated remains will follow at a later date. Cecil’s faith in God has been inspiring, and not a day will go by that he won’t be thought of.
