Raised in Moncton and graduated from Moncton High School
before attending UNB to study Civil Engineering in 1941. Cecil
interrupted his studies to serve for his country in the Second World
War. With service in the Canadian Military, he then re-mustered to the
Royal Naval Fleet Air Arm where he undertook pilot training in
England, and resumed his studies after the war. While at UNB he
enjoyed many sports and activities including Captain of the UNB
Varsity Basketball Team, Student Council and sang at the Red and Black
reviews and dances.
He had a 42-year career as a Civil Engineer working for all
levels of government across the country. He was devoted to his family
and friends and enjoyed all sports, especially golf! He was an avid
storyteller and had a wonderful sense of humour and very dry wit. He
was known to raise a glass of single malt and enjoyed many social
gatherings. He was a very positive person and always found the good
within, he believed in honesty, hard-work and valued kindness which he
learned from his parents. In his memory please consider a small act of
kindness.
Cecil and his family are very grateful for the attentive care
and support over the last few weeks from family and friends, Dr.
Hanzal Djilali, Dr. Robert Daigle, Dr. Charles Smith, Parkland Shannex
Fredericton, Extra-Mural Nursing, Bayshore HealthCare, Red Cross and
DECH nursing staff.
There will be no visitation by request. A celebration of life
will be held at Christ Church Cathedral on Thursday, September 27,
2018 at 1 pm with the The Very Rev. Geoffrey Hall officiating. There
will be a gathering at the Shannex-Garrison Lounge at 2 pm, with the
Royal Canadian Legion Branch #4 holding a tribute at 2:30
pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the SPCA, the
John Howard Society, or a charity of ones choice to support someone or
an animal in need.
