It is with profound sadness that the family of Bruce Goodlad announces his sudden death on July 7, 2018. He will be forever remembered by his parents, Anne and Jim Goodlad, sister Jenn, brother Jimmy, brother-in-law Matt, sister-in-law Emily, niece Kaylee, and nephews Axel and Adam.
Bruce was born in Vernon, BC and grew up in Coldstream. From an early age, Bruce had a love of animals, the outdoors, and working with his hands. After completing his high school education, Bruce entered the working world where he demonstrated a strong work ethic and an aptitude for operating machines. Bruce worked in several different fields which led him to a career as a pipeliner. His work brought him all over BC and Alberta often working in isolated communities and extreme weather conditions. He felt comfortable behind the wheel of any machine, and often became the straw boss or lead hand of on any job he was on.
Bruce has many friends from his early childhood who are grieving his loss. He had a warm heart and easy smile. Bruce’s booming laugh will never be forgotten by those lucky enough to hear it. He made friends quickly, held on to them tightly, and was very loyal to those he cared for. Once you had Bruce’s love, he loved you for life.
Bruce was a big guy who loved to eat and loved to cook. He could whip up a delicious meal without a recipe and his family always enjoyed his creations. It brought him joy to prepare a delicious meal for people he cared about.
In the past year, he purchased his first home in Lumby, BC where he was growing a beautiful garden. He was proud to join the community and to begin forming meaningful relationships with his neighbours.
There will be a Celebration of Life potluck for Bruce at the Goodlad residence from 2pm-8pm on July 21, 2018. Those who were close to this big hearted man are welcome to stop by.
