Obituary of Barry Murphy
Hugh “Barry” Murphy, 68, of Stellarton, passed away quietly in the Aberdeen Hospital Palliative Care Unit on July 12, 2018 after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born in New Glasgow, he was the son of the late Thomas and Raphaela (MacDonald) Murphy.
He was a member of the former St. Gregory’s Roman Catholic Church in New Glasgow. Barry had been employed as a welder with the former Trenton Works. He enjoyed fishing and hunting in his younger years and most recently had developed a passion for building and flying RC helicopters and was a member of the Northumberland RC Modelers Club.
Barry is survived by daughter Annette (Nathan)Taylor, Riverview, NB; son, Jeff (Joyce), Westville, NS; 5 grandchildren; brothers, Bernie (Pat), Westville; Brian (Brenda), Lourdes; Beryl (Barb), New Glasgow; and a sister Brenda (John) Brown, MacLellan’s Brook.
He was predeceased by his two brothers Breton and Blaine.
There will be no visitation or funeral service by request. A grave side service will be held 1 o’clock Monday from St. Anne’s Cemetery, Thorburn with Father Barrett Clair Johnson officiating.
Family flowers only. Donations in memory of Barry may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Diabetes Canada. Arrangements are under the direction of Eagles Funeral Home, Westville
