Obituary of Barbara MacDonald, New Waterford
It is with broken hearts we announce the passing of our mother, grandmother, sister and friend, Barbara MacDonald, on June 26, 2018 at New Waterford Consolidated Hospital.
Born in New Waterford on December 23, 1956, she was a daughter of the late Paddy and Mary (MacNeil) Kennedy.
Barbara worked as an LPN for 37 years retiring in January 2017.
Surviving are her son, David; grandchildren, Nick and Emma; sisters, Linda (Paul) Coombes, Ont., Sheila (Allan) Doublett, Sydney, and Margaret (Steven) MacAulay, New Waterford; brother, Baryy (Laurie) Kennedy, Ont.
Besides her parents, Barbara was predeceased by her husband Kevin ‘KD’; daughter, Trisha; mother and father-in-law, Victoria and DA MacDonald.
Visitation will take place on Thursday, June 28, 2018, from 7-9 p.m. in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith Street, New Waterford. A Funeral Mass of celebration will be held on Friday, June 29 at 10 a.m. in the Parish Church of St. Leonard, Mount Carmel Avenue, with Father Ray Huntley officiating. Cremation will follow with burial in Mount Carmel Cemetery at a later date. Family flowers only. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cancer Patient Care Fund at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
