Born September 1, 1933- died December 28, 2018. Alvie Charles Lovell (“Boogie Lovell”) beloved husband of 63 years to Yvonne (Shultz) Lovell, father of JoAnn Lovell-Kristoferson (Paul), Allan Lovell (Michelle) and Kathleen Lovell-McIsaac (Doug), grandfather of Sherrilynn, Pamela, Adam, Stephen, Samantha, Christopher, Sean, Scott, Derek and Tyler, great grandfather of Addison, Patrick, Henley, Rowan, Gavin and soon to be born Eva. Alvie was predeceased by his parents Neil and Mary Lovell, brothers Ken and Will, brother-in-laws’ Walter Dehens, Don Smith, Jay Coyle, Bruce Coyle, Ormond Shultz and William Coulthard, sister-in-laws’ Helen Lovell, Bella Lovell, Ioma Welch and Orca Coyle. Alvie is survived by his sisters Mary and Anne and sister-in-law’s Irma (Coyle) Coulthard, Sylvia Shultz and brother-in-law Dennis Welch. He was beloved by many nieces and nephews. Dad was above all, a good man. He taught us that honesty, integrity, hard work, respect, humour and kindness should guide our daily lives. He was an athlete whose love of playing the games of baseball and hockey was infinite. He ran like the wind, hit the ball like “the Babe” and without exception, whether on the rink , the diamond, or in life, he reached for his best. He mentored so many youth on the ball field; many people still refer to him affectionately as “coach”. Dad was inducted into the Sports Hall of Fame in Dresden, Ontario. We all have such wonderful memories of him on the farm and at the cottage. He loved his family and friends with a passion, only surpassed by the love he held for his wife Yvonne. “Such a bonnie lad” will not be forgotten in this life or the next. A memorial celebration of Alvie’s life will be hosted by the Lovell family at a date and place to be later announced. A private service will be held for immediate family members. Any friends or family wishing to make a donation in Alvie’s memory are asked to donate to a charity of their choice that supports children in sports and pursuits of excellence or your local humane society. Donations can be made by contacting OSTRANDER’S FUNERAL HOME LIMITED, 43 BIDWELL ST., TILLSONBURG, (519) 842-5221, entrusted with arrangements.
