Alexander Lampropoulos
Peacefully at Providence Care Centre on Saturday January 27, 2018, in his 88th year. Predeceased by Athanasia, his beloved wife of 52 years. Cherished father of Laura Lampropoulos-Morton and her husband James Morton and George Lambros and his wife Laura West. Loving grandfather of Patrick, Johnny, Sarah, and Kate. He will be sadly missed by his nieces Christina Bolton, Barbara Huggins, Panagiota Stefanidys, Fotini Koutsaftakis, Efthalia Zaharopoulos, and Vagelitsa Xinnaris, his nephews Elias Stavropoulos, George Lampropoulos and Michael Pezoulas and their families. He was born on December 10, 1930 in Platanos, Greece, immigrating to Canada in 1962. He married Athanasia in Kingston, and they remained to raise their family. He was the president of the Greek Community, a teacher at Sydenham Highschool and LaSalle Secondary School and a long serving City of Kingston alderman. He served on a number of boards and was a long standing member of the Board of Directors of the KFL&A Health Unit.
The family will receive friends at the ROBERT J. REID AND SONS FUNERAL HOME 309 Johnson Street (at Barrie Street) on Monday February 5, between the hours of 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Father Matthew will commence prayers at 8 p.m. His Funeral Service will be on Tuesday at the Koimisis Tis Theotokou – Greek Orthodox Church, 121 Johnson Street, at 11 a.m. Interment to follow at Cataraqui Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to the Greek Orthodox Church or to the Helen Henderson Care Centre, Memory Care Unit.
