Ken passed away at Meaford Long Term Care on Wednesday, August 9, at the age of 87, with his loving wife Maureen (nee Madge) by his side.
Born in Toronto on May 19, 1936, Ken was the only child of Harold and Irene (nee Maybee) Strickland.
He is survived by his son Glenn Kenneth Strickland. Ken will be missed by his beloved daughter Lori-Mae Kelly and her family.
Ken’s career was spent in the insurance industry, primarily as a fraud auditor.
Ken and Maureen retired to Meaford in 1994, becoming strong community supporters. He spent many happy hours on the Meaford Golf Course, proudly served as Chairman of the Meaford Police Services Board, and was a member of the Masonic Lodge for more than 50 years.
Ken was passionate about hockey from his early years, and after playing the game himself he turned to coaching young people in the sport, some of whom became professional players.
Cremation has taken place and private arrangements will take place at this time.
