Obituary
Stephen Melanson passed suddenly on the morning of June 2, 2023, while in St. Stephen, New Brunswick on a road trip to visit family. Born on September 23, 1957 in Toronto, ON, Stephen Allen Melanson of Owen Sound, was 65 years young. He grew up in Richmond Hill then later resided in Owen Sound, ON.
All his life, he had a love and appreciation for music and at every opportunity would look to share his current favourite song and what it meant to him. And that’s just one of the reasons he meant so much to so many. If you knew him then he’s shared at least one Bruce Springsteen song with you.
He was a great man, a loving father and a friend to all. Though he had many ailments he chose to suffer silently and push through the pain. It’s for this reason, it’s safe to say he lived up to the lyrics of one of his favourite songs (you should give it a Iisten) he truly was “tougher than the rest”.
Pre-deceased by his parents Philip and Alice (McGarrigle) Melanson.
Dear brother of Pat Jowett of Saint John, NB, Jim Melanson of Toronto, ON, Michael Melanson (Denise) of Orillia, ON, Joseph Melanson of Blacks Harbour, NB, and Teresa Melanson (Maurice) of Dieppe, NB.
Loving father of Michael Dupuis (Vikki), Justin Melanson, Shawn Melanson, Sheena Melanson-Sachs (Randy), Garrett Melanson (Wiley), and Jessica Melanson (Tyler).
Cherished Grandfather and Papa to Owen Melanson and Keiran Melanson (Shawn), Griffin the dog (Justin), Neveyah Sachs and Atlas Sachs (Sheena), and Hunter Melanson (Garrett).
Stephen also leaves behind his beloved dog, Max.
A celebration of Steve’s life will be held on Friday, June 23, 2023 at the Royal Canadian Legion – Owen Sound. Friends and family are welcome to join the Celebration of Life Service which will begin at 6:30 pm with doors opening at 6:00 pm. A reception will follow immediately after until 9:00 pm.
