1945-2024
Sandra Lee (Cameron) MacMillan, age 79, passed on July 7th,
2024 at Ivey’s Terrance, surrounded by her
family.
She grew up on the Cameron farm on Chance Harbor Rd. She was
the eldest of seven children.
She married Jack Walsh, and they had 6 children together.
During her children’s early years, she was a homemaker. She
enjoyed spending time in the outdoors at the cottages in Merigomish
and Pictou landing with her family. Sandra was a nurturer, always
taking care of friends and family. Her door was always open to
everyone.
In the later years of her life, she met and married Ed
MacMillan and was blessed with a second family of four more daughters.
During this time, she worked in homecare and as a custodian. During
their marriage Sandra enjoyed travelling with Ed and family throughout
Canada and down south. You could always catch Sandra and Ed enjoying
each other, and the wildlife, while they had morning coffee on the
back deck.
Sandra was an avid Bingo player. She loved going for a walk
or a drive. She was a huge Elvis fan. She brought joy and love to
everyone lives. She was a fantastic baker and chef. She loved to feed
everyone who walked through the door.
In 2021 Sandra, and her beloved doll, Bella, moved into
Ivey’s Terrace in Trenton. It was here she met her third
family and received the most exceptional and loving
care.
She was predeceased by parents, Bruce and Alice Cameron;
former husband, Jack Walsh; daughter, Valerie Walsh; son, William
«Billy» Walsh; husband, Edward MacMillan; daughters:
Karla MacMillan and Kenda Park; brothers: George Cameron, Duncan
Cameron and Art Cameron; brothers-in-law: Hugh MacMillan, Kevin
Ranger, Ray Gablonski, Jim MacMillan; John MacMillan (Edith);
sisters-in-law: Sarah and Mary MacMillan; mothers and fathers-in-law:
Ronald and Mary Walsh; Anthony and Winnie MacMillan.
She is survived by her children: son, Ronald (Margie) Walsh
Trenton; daughters: Sharon (Mike MacDonald) Maclean, Calgary; Mary
Pearl (Lewis Pitts) Walsh, Trenton; Joanne Walsh, Edmonton; Kim Earle,
New Glasgow; Karen (Doug) Harris, Truro; sisters: Helen Roper (Donnie
Murray), Trenton; Priscilla (Diddi) Phalen, Springhill; brother,
Walter Cameron, Hillside; sisters-in-law: Janet Ranger, New Brunswick;
Elizabeth Gablonski; Australia; Anita Greencorn; Guysborough; Becky
MacMillan; NFLD; brothers-in-law: Paul MacMillan (Rita), Ont; Ronald
MacMillan (Marlyn), Ont; Francis MacMillan (Shirley), Trenton; 23
grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; 2 great
great-grandchildren.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to all the
staff at Ivey’s Terrace, Dr. Colin Sutton, and the Aberdeen
Emergency Department. A special mention to Dr. Tom Park for all his
years of care for our mom. Thank you to Porter’s Funeral
Home for their caring assistance at this time.
Visitation 6-8pm Wednesday, in R.H. Porter Funeral Home, 55
Almont Ave., New Glasgow. Funeral 10am Thursday, in the R.H. Porter
Funeral Home, New Glasgow, with Father Tom MacNeil officiating. Burial
in Christ the King Cemetery. Donations in her memory may be made to
Christ the King Cemetery, the SPCA or a charity of
choice.
