RUBY NANCY MUCZ (nee: LITVINCHUK)
Ruby passed away unexpectedly while at her home on Friday, January 27, 2023.
Ruby was loved and will be dearly missed by family members and friends. She is survived by her children Richard (Jennifer) and their children Vanessa and Dylan; David (Cheryl) and their children Teagan, Haley and Carlee; Marianne (Rene) and their children Jasmine and Shayla; and Joanne (Hector) and their children Natalya, Tryce, and Deklen; brother Walter (Kathy) Litvinchuk; Bill (Chris) Litvinchuk; sisters-in law Sophie Lipinski (Ed); Mary Miller, numerous nieces and nephews, neighbours Bruce and Bev Schick and their children who became like family to her. Ruby was predeceased by her husband Walter Mucz, parents Walter and Anne Litvinchuk, brother Leonard Litvinchuk, and her in-laws Nicholas and Stella Mucz.
Ruby was born in Biggar, Saskatchewan on April 23, 1938. She lived with her family in several towns in Saskatchewan while her father worked for the railroad. The family eventually moved to a farm in Durban, Manitoba in 1940 where Ruby attended grade school. She completed Grade 12 in Swan River where she lived with her grandparents. After high school Ruby relocated to Winnipeg to attend Teacher’s College in 1956-57 and went on to teach Grade 6 within the Norwood School Division from 1957-1963. She retired from teaching in 1964 to begin her life’s work at home raising her family. Ruby returned to the workforce as an instore demonstrator from 1988-2003.
Walter and Ruby were married at St. Andrews Ukrainian Catholic Church in Winnipeg, MB on July 6, 1963. They were both selfless in their hard work and dedication to provide for the needs of their family. They celebrated life, love, and family for almost 55 years together before Walter’s passing in 2018.
Ruby enjoyed many opportunities to travel with family whether to Hawaii, Florida, Las Vegas, Paris, New York or within Canada on many cross-country tours to visit with her children and grandchildren.
In her later years, Ruby kept active and loved attending exercise classes at the Good Neighbours Active Living Centre. She spoke fondly of her friends and classmates at Chair Pilates, PACE, and enjoyed Friday afternoon movies and many lunches and conversations with the girls afterwards.
Ruby’s highest commitment was the love she extended to her family. Until her final days, she remained dedicated to her husband, children, and grandchildren through times of celebrations and during the challenges that life can bring to us. Each of her grandchildren holds a special relationship with “Gramma”, “Grandma Ruby” and “G-Ma” and she will be dearly missed. She celebrated many of her children’s and grandchildren sporting, academic, music and cultural celebrations and was everyone’s biggest fan and cheerleader! She had an amazing positive energy that spread to others around her, always had a patient and kind ear to confide in, and always showed a deep caring for those that she interacted with. Ruby was often the central point of communication as she loved to keep in touch with everyone. She enjoyed cooking special meals or baking treats to share. Perogies, cabbage rolls, soup, cinnamon buns, and her famous scuffles just to name a few. Her passing is a great loss and she will be dearly missed by all that knew her.
A memorial service and Celebration of Life will be planned for the spring.
