Ronald Fredrick Skinner, age 89 years.
Passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family at St. Clare’s Mercy Hospital on February 2, 2023.
Predeceased by his parents, Fredrick Ambrose and Sarah; 8 brothers: Edward, Ralph, Clayton, Garfield, Simeon, Thomas, Roland and Corwin; 5 sisters: Velma, Lillian, Bertha, Hilda and Elizabeth.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Effie “Blanche” (Martin); his children: Maureen (David), Beverly (Scott) and Fred (Melanie); his grandchildren: Travis, Tiffany, Joshua, Robert, David and Clinton; his brother, Samuel and a large circle of nieces, nephews and extended family.
Ron was born in Boxey, Fortune Bay on January 8, 1934 to Fredrick “Ambrose” and Sarah (Baker) Skinner, the youngest of 15 children.
For most of Ron’s work life he was employed with Ayre and Sons at the Water Street location until his retirement from the Giant Mart Churchill Square Store. He then operated a small cleaning business.
Resting at Barrett’s Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Avenue on Sunday, February 5, 2023 from 1-9pm, Monday, February 6, 2023 from 2-4 and 7-9pm. A Funeral Service will be held at Barrett’s Memorial Chapel on Tuesday, February 7, 2023 at 11:00am with a burial to follow at the Anglican Cemetery, Kenmount Road. A reception will also be held at Barrett’s Reception Centre following the graveside service. The service will be livestreamed, for those who would like to attend virtually, please follow the link provided on the main page of Barrett’s website.
