Remembering Richard
Richard P. Swan ended his breathing battle with COPD peacefully overnight in his sleep Monday, May 1st and is now breathing easy. Richard truly was one of a kind, from his sense of humor to his world views. He loved reading, especially anything historical or Louis Lamour and was passionate about cinema of all sorts constantly referencing old comedies. He loved listening to music we didn’t know existed. He loved living on the mountain, enjoying all that nature had to offer and reminiscing his childhood farming with his father. Richard was an extremely hard worker who was never late, he couldn’t stand it and always tried to be at least an hour or two early. Richard’s biggest passion in life was always his children and then his grandchildren. He dedicated so much time to watching his children grow and flourish, showing them the simpler side of life and that all you really needed was family, and love and your heart would be full. When he found out that he would be a grandfather for the first time, within minutes he had claimed the name Papa and was smiling from ear to ear. He was wrapped around every one of their little fingers and he wasn’t afraid to admit it, but he also wasn’t afraid to lay down Papa law if need be. There is so much more that can be said about Richard but we will be saving stories and reminiscing for his service and reception.
Surviving family members include his mother, E. Paulette Wallace; stepfather, Gary Wallace; brother, Michael; sister in law, Audrey; nieces, Ashley Swan and Kristen Duclos; former wife and mother of his children, Stephanie Swan; daughter, Jasmine Swan-Douglas; son in law, Colin Douglas; son,Tyrel (Brandi Murphy); grandchildren, Alexander and Nash Douglas, Brinley and Aubree Swan; step grandchildren, Peyton Murphy and Sage Murphy Nichols.

“Richard will forever be missed and loved beyond words…”
