Marie Antoinette (Jean) Venzon (nee Bretti)-
After a long well-lived life, the family of Jean sadly announce her passing at Millennium Trail Manor on May 22, 2024, at the age of 93. Jean is now reunited with her loving husband Giacomo “Jack” Venzon (2011). Dearly loved mother of Catharine and late son-in-law William Zeev Reich (Ronald Trigilio), David (Teri) and Peter (Melissa Burrell). Beloved and cherished Nana to Zabrina Reich and her husband Francis Jacobi, great Nana to Elliana and Francesca; Nana to Aviva Reich and great Nana to Aryabella, Ezra, and Olive; Nana to Marie and great Nana to Serena; Nana to Natalie (Nick Andriano), David, Amanda (Marco Marinelli), Christina; Nana to Rachael and Jeffrey. Jean will be dearly missed by her sister Margaret (Ken) Styles, and her brother-in law Louis (Maureen) Venzon, and her many nieces and nephews. Jean was the 5th daughter of Joseph and Elizabeth Bretti and is predeceased by her brothers Tony (Georgina) and John and sisters Barbara (John) Wallace, Rose (Sam) Buemi, Carmel (Albert) D’Amico and Mary (Howie Sr.) Smith.
Jean was born and lived her entire life in Niagara Falls, Ontario. A member of Our Lady of Scapular Church, Catholics Women’s League, and Daughter’s of Isabella. Jean worked for her late husband at the company they owned and operated Venzon Plastering Ltd., and at the Mount Carmel Gift Shop. On October 22, 1954, Jean went on her first date with her future husband because they shared the same birthday. They went on to enjoy 54 years of marriage. We will all remember Jean for her warmth and kindness and of course her delicious homemade food. Her children and grandchildren say she made the world’s best spaghetti and meatballs, and her many Italian dishes were second to none. Her desserts were equally delicious as Jack always enjoyed her lemon meringue pie and butter tarts. Jean was an avid sports fan, enjoying her Toronto Maple Leafs, and Blue Jays, football, and golf. We will all miss our Sunday dinners together as a family as they are our most precious memories. Jean rest now, your work is done. Watch over us all until we celebrate again.
Family and Friends are invited to gather at Morse and Son Funeral Home 5917 Main Street Niagara Falls, ON for visitation on Sunday May 26, 2024, from 3-8. A funeral mass for Jean will be held on Monday May 27, 2024, 10am at Our Lady of Scapular Church, 6557 Thorold Stone Road Niagara Falls, ON, with the Rite of Committal at Fairview Cemetery to follow. As an expression of sympathy, those who wish may make a memorial donation to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
