Obituary
Larry Harvey (Bodner) born in Hamilton, Ontario. Peacefully at his home with family by his side on January 17, 2023 at the age of 79.
Beloved widow and best friend of Ada who had been together for 63 years. Larry was so proud of his relationship with his wife Ada.
Loving father of Michael (Julie). Larry was so thankful for his son Michael and his wife Julie who have been very attentive to both him and Ada in their last years. Larry was so happy that he and Ada lived long enough to see their son Michael at his happiest times after he met and married Julie.
Larry has been so fortunate to live long enough to see his four beautiful great grandchildren Adrian, Morgan, Aaron and Nathan come into this world. His grandson Shaun with his wife Kerri gave him the gift of these great grandchildren.
His other grandson Sascha has faced challenges in his life but Larry feels he will overcome these challenges in the end.
Predeceased by mother Norma Perry (Wayne), father William Bodner (Janet), half-sister Janice Bodner and half-brother Billy Bodner.
Larry was very close to his spouse’s family. Predeceased by mother-in- law Dora, sister-in-law Doreen, brother-in-law Fred Bachur (Donna), Billy Bachur (Gerry), Tommy Bachur (Belle). Survived by brother-in-law Ron Bachur (Suzanne) sister-in-law Dorothy Carr (Dean) who both he and Ada took under their wings when they were adolescents providing them love and care.
Survived by many nieces and nephews and in particular spent much time and had a close connection to nieces Tammy and Bobbi Lynn Bachur. Larry was so happy to reconnect with his long-lost nieces Amber from California and Rosebud from England who found each other through Ancestry DNA and were the daughters of his half-sister Janice.
Larry was given up as a baby when his parents divorced and he grew up in a shelter in Hamilton. At age 14, he moved out on his own and had many dreams. His dreams included to live in Florida, to own Thoroughbred racehorses and to own a bar. Larry worked at Procter and Gamble in Hamilton until the age of 50 and was then able to accomplish all his dreams. As owner of Thoroughbred racehorses with his wife Ada, he has raced them at Woodbine, Fort Erie and Gulfstream Racetracks. Larry bred two mares which had yearlings who were sold to other owners to continue a racing career. Larry was also an owner of Clancy’s US’Eh on Pine Avenue in Niagara Falls, New York and a part time auto sales representative at Cardinal KIA Niagara Falls, Ontario. Larry and Ada did enjoy their time wintering in Pompano Beach Florida. Larry was blessed to live as long as he has and is very appreciative of the life he has lead.
