On April 17, 2024 at the age of 77, Kerry Gordon Eisenhauer passed away at home in Big Lots
with his wife Belinda by his side.
Born in Mahone Bay on August 4, 1946, he was the son of the Late Phillip Maeder and Bertha
Florence (Croft) Eisenhauer of Mahone Bay.
At a young age he started washing cars and mowing lawns and saving his money. At the age of
sixteen he purchased his first car a 1953 Meteor. He played baseball for four years as a pitcher
and third base. He would skip school and go fishing and hunting. Kerry spent a short time in
the reserve army in Lunenburg. He made two trips to sea on the scallop dragger (Mary Patricia)
and (Commodore IV) where he battled with sea sickness.
With grade nine and a loan from Fred Collicut he was able to go to Dartmouth to start work with
a construction company Guildfords Limited at the age of seventeen. Kerry went to school in
New Jersey and Ontario for education in spraying urethane foam and asbestos removal. He also
took Blue Print Reading and became a supervisor. He was employed with Guildfords Limited
for twenty-five years and his boss Alan MacDonald became a close friend and hunting buddy.
He got to travel with his job to all the Maritime Provinces and as far as Bermuda.
Kerry purchased many acres of forest land over the years. When he retired from Guildfords
Limited at forty-five he worked his land by logging, silviculture, building roads and growing
Christmas trees. He purchased, built and renovated houses to rent. Tenants became friends.
Kerry was a naturalist by far. He with the help of his wife raised wild turkeys, quail, seven
variety of pheasants, guineas and rabbits. He got to release and also shipped pheasants as far
as British Columbia. He had several ponds and raised rainbow and speckled trout and friends
were given the opportunity to catch a fish. He also raised goldfish and Japanese koi.
In his spare time he enjoyed driving his antique cars, 1969 Buick Electra and 1976 Pontiac
Parisienne. His dream in life came true when he purchased land on Covey Lake and built his
cottage. He enjoyed his toys; speed boat towing skiers, motor cycles and snowmobile. The
best of all, this is where he met the love of his life, Belinda.
Kerry will be remembered by many for his kindness, willingness to help others whether
it was advice or loans and his generosity. He had a huge heart, great sense of humour and
infectious laugh.
The last several years of his life were difficult with many health issues, taking away the many
things he enjoyed. He was blessed although to live a good full life.
Kerry was dearly loved by his wife and best friend Belinda (Tanner) Eisenhauer of 32 years.
He is also survived by his daughter, Stephanie (Ash) Ahmed, granddaughter Laura-Lee
Hynick, Bridgewater; sister Catherine(Alan) MacNeil, their son Kyle, Dartmouth; neice
Mary-Ann (John) Sutherland and their children, Uriah, Arrel, Jayde, Selena, JaNiece and
David, Florida; nephew, Harry (Gerene) Eisenhauer, New Brunswick.
In addition to his parents, Kerry was predeceased by a sister, Winnifred and a brother Harry.
A special appreciation and huge THANK YOU to Dr. Kerry Jo Parker and Dr. Neil duToit
for the exceptional wonderful care over the years. Also to Dr. Catherine Harris, Dr. Robyn
Macfarlene, Dr. JP MacCarthy, palliative care team and VON.
At Kerry’s request there will be no visitation. Arrangements are under the care of Dana L.
Sweeny’s Funeral Home, Lunenburg. A graveside service will be held at Christ Church
Cemetery, 455 Northfield Road, Maitland at a later date.
If desired, memorial donations may be made to South Shore Wildlife Association, Hope
for Wildlife, Canadian Cancer Society or Heart and Stroke Foundation.
