It is with saddened hearts that we share news of the passing of Helena in her 94th year on Wednesday, June 21, 2023.
Helena has gone to rest with her beloved husband, Wiktor; her parents, Adam and Jadwiga Sadowski, and her sister, Leonarda, and brother, Jan. She is survived by her younger sister, Regina in Australia. Helena will be remembered as a loving mother who was devoted to her family. She loved deeply, selflessly, and unconditionally; beloved mother to Diana, dear grandmother to Edward (Jennifer) and Adam (Ashley), and most proud great-grandmother to Bianca and Hannah.
Helena was born in the Wilno Region of Poland. She endured the adversities of the Second World War along with her mother and siblings, journeying through Siberia, Persia, India, and Africa. She then came to Canada on her own at the age of nineteen. Helena’s life is a legacy of love and a testament of strength, courage, kindness, and grace.
Visitation will take place at Turner & Porter Funeral Home Yorke Chapel, 2357 Bloor Street West, Toronto, on Tuesday, June 27, 2023, at 12:00 – 1:00 p.m., followed by a Funeral Service in the Yorke Chapel at 1:00 p.m. Interment at Park Lawn Cemetery. Reception to follow.
