It is with much sadness that we announce the death of William Frank Lipsett, Ph. D., of Woodstock on Wednesday January 11, 2023, at the Upper River Valley Hospital at the age of 82.
Frank was born on May 21, 1940, in Saint John NB to the late Andrew George Blair and Jennie Margarite (Hemphill) Lipsett.
Frank is survived by his wife Gail (Buckingham) Lipsett, daughter Adina Lipsett (Brian Corbiere), son Christian Lipsett, 3 stepchildren, Andrew (Lori) Bird, Krista Bird, Stephanie Longstaff, grandchildren Miranda, Kiara, Katelynn, Leighton, Keagan, Noah, 3 step grandchildren, Andrew, Deidre, Jarika, brother Bruce (Linda) Lipsett, nephews Blair (Sandi), Darren (Amanda), David (Mari), and Mother-in-law Joyce (Merlin) Gibson.
Frank was a passionate educator, he studied at UNB graduating with B. Ed., U of Maine, M. Ed. and Michigan State, Ph. D in Education Philosophy and Administration. He strived to find the best and motivate his students to achieve their potential and has enjoyed hearing from many over the years who told him the difference he made in their lives.
Frank’s teaching career started in Debec in 1965, served as Vice Principal at Nackawic High in 1967, Principal at Nackawic Junior High in 1971-1992, ending his career as VP at Woodstock High 1992-2000. During his career he also spent time instructing Sea Cadets at summer camps in Halifax.
After retirement Frank was involved in the Multicultural Society of Carleton County, the local Liberal Party, wrote articles for the Bugle, Frankly Speaking and Let’s Travel. He and Gail were proud of the families they welcomed to Woodstock and their achievements. A highlight of his free time was being a member of the Saint John River Society and served as President of the Board for a number of years. He found great comfort in his faith and enjoyed reading at church, serving on committees and the Knights of Columbus.
Frank and Gail loved to travel and enjoyed many memorable trips, cruising and visiting various countries. He enjoyed his grandchildren and loved watching their dance recitals, hockey games and other school activities. Family and friends were very important to him, and he treasured their relationships.
The family wants to thank both Riverside Court, Carleton Manor, Upper River Valley Hospital and their staff for their care and compassion while he was a resident.
