Eileen Ida
(Payne) Fenton- Stevens, 92, of Curryville passed away, just before
her 93 birthday, on January 9th, 2023 at her home with her family by
her side.
Eileen was born in Collingwood, NS on January 22nd, 1930
the daughter of the late Wesley and Mae (Tait) Payne.
She was a housewife and took great pride in raising her
family. She and her husband Glenn raised their children and
were great parents. She was very involved in her
community and was a faithful member of the Curryville United
Church. She loved history and was involved with
the Historical Society. She was a member of the
Hillsborough Seniors Club. She enjoyed baking, was
known for her rolls and sweets. She also enjoyed
knitting and listening to old time fiddle music. She was a
huge Wildcats fan and was always cheering them on. After her
first husband passed away she married Leslie Stevens and together they
had a lot of fun times and were great companions.
Having seen many changes throughout her
lifetime she was always moving with the times and
living life with zest. She had an outgoing
personality and good outlook on life. She was known for her
hospitality and her door was always open. She will be
remembered for her sweet smile.
Eileen was grateful to her family for looking after her
with great care and affection after her husbands passing.
She felt blessed to have her family close. She
spent her life with people who made her laugh and
feel loved.
She will be deeply missed by her children, Joe Fenton
(Peggy) of Moncton, Cathy Higgins of Curryville and Tim Fenton of
Curryville; her treasured grandchildren, Aaren (Sarah), Tia (Kevin)
and Nick (Shayla); great-granddaughters, Isabella, Evelyn, Sadie,
Stella and Sophia; her step-children, Carl Stevens of Riverview, Peggy
Clements of Pointe Du Chene and Chrystal Beaumont (Bill) of Edgett’s
Landing; step-grandchildren, Carla, Sarah, Ben, Bailey and Darcey,
step-great grandchildren, Aiden, Carter, Leslie, Thaddeus and Samuel;
her sister, Eleanor Blair (Dennis) of Peterborough, ON. She will also
be missed by several nieces, nephews, all her extended family and
friends.
Besides her parents she was predeceased by her first
husband, Glenn Fenton and second husband, Leslie Stevens; and
brothers, Rollie (Kaye) and Russell (Jackie) and step-grandson, Justin
Stevens.
There will be a time of Visitation at the Albert County
Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 11th, 2023 from 2-4pm.
A graveside service will be held in the Curryville Cemetery,
Curryville, NB in the spring.
Donations to the Curryville Cemetery or to the charity of
the donor’s choice would be greatly appreciated.
