Passed away peacefully with his family by his side on May 28, 2024 at the age of 87. Beloved husband to Laurette (Lavergne) for 67 years. Adored father to Deborah Pozzobon and husband Claudio. Cherished brother to late Monica Thibeault (Andre), Madeline Wardell (Keith), Garry Carroll (Cathy), Patricia Carroll (late Brian Furlong), Andrew Carroll (Judi). Loving grandfather to Katie Grant and husband Johnny, Marissa Pozzobon and adored great-grandfather to Aubrey and Gavin Grant, Kayden Pozzobon. Earl leaves behind many close family members and friends.
Earl was a member of the Es Scottish Orderly in 1952, Royal Canadian Air Force in 1955. A firefighter with the Windsor Fire and Rescue in 1962, Deputy Fire Chief in 1984, Fire chief in 1992 and retired in 1993. Earl was the president of the International Association of Firefighter union, a member of the opening crew of the Hook and Ladder Club and a co-owner of the Westport Restaurant in Lasalle.
In his spare time, you could always find Earl tending to his beautiful gardens or mastering the growth of exotic plants. Earl was passionate about history and always enjoyed a war time movie with Laurette in the bistro. Earl was very active in the lives of his children, grand children and great-grand children and enjoyed supporting all stages of their lives. The door was always open and everyone was welcome at Earl and Laurette’s house, as he loved to entertain visitors.
In following Earl’s wishes, cremation has taken place with a celebration of his life to be held at Giovanni Caboto Club between 4pm-7pm Friday May 31st.
